Finegold Alexander Announces New Shareholder and Four Team Member Promotions

Finegold Alexander Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of a firm shareholder along with four promotions of current employees into new leadership positions. Principal Christopher Lane is the newest shareholder at the firm, Josephine Penta, Lara Pfadt and Rob Law have been promoted to Senior Associate and Özge Diler Himes has been elevated to Associate.

Christopher P. Lane
AIA, LEED, MCCPO

Christopher has been an architect with Finegold Alexander for over 27 years and is a critical member on nearly all the firm’s work involving complex preservation and fast track schedules for public, higher education, K-12 and private development clients. Lane’s expertise is in historic preservation and adaptive reuse, and he has unique knowledge of construction methods and materials used to blend existing and historic building fabrics with new construction elements. His interests also include the forensic portion of projects along with problem solving throughout documentation, production, and the final construct. Lane’s expertise in adaptive reuse and historic preservation, such as the restoration and preservation of First Church of Christ, Scientist in downtown Boston, is coupled with a forward-thinking and innovative mindset. He has also been designing new and renovated K-12 educational facilities throughout New England, creating inspirational and state-of-the-art spaces for teaching and learning, such as the new ground-up Gladstone Elementary School in Cranston, RI which is currently in design. Newly Promoted Senior Associates at Finegold Alexander:

Josephine Penta
AIA, LEED  

Josephine brings confident expertise and a listening ear to each project and team she manages. She has valuable experience in all aspects of projects from programming through construction administration and has recently been working with higher education, library and developer clients. As the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager, Josephine excels in Revit and has been instrumental in developing procedures and rigorous standards to improve the office’s efficiency when using BIM. This rigor carries through in her project work, where she ensures that existing conditions have been thoroughly documented and detailed, and that the marriage between new architecture, systems and finishes is seamless. Josephine has worked on projects across multiple sectors including the Babson College Kerry Murphy Healey Park, Garrison Square, 7 Harcourt and Stoughton Public Library. She is currently the Project Manager for the Jones Public Library in Amherst, MA, Boston University Kilachand Hall Addition and Renovation project, and 25 Isabella Street – a residential church conversion project. In addition to her project work, Josephine spearheaded Finegold Alexander’s virtual and hybrid onboarding process and contributes to the firm’s Intern Planning Group.

Lara Pfadt
AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CPHC

Lara has extensive experience in preservation, adaptive reuse and new construction for educational, institutional and private development projects. She serves as Finegold Alexander’s Sustainability Strategist, bringing a passion for sustainability and expertise in environmentally-conscious solutions to all of the firm’s projects. Lara is especially skilled in managing systems integration as they relate to sustainable practices and the role they play in preserving and reusing existing buildings. She is an active member of multiple professional groups including the co-chairing the BSA Committee on the Environment (COTE). Lara is actively working with multiple higher education institutions including Tufts University, Wellesley College and recently worked on decarbonization studies at MIT, Amherst College and Smith College.

Rob Law
AIA, NCARB

A confident architect with a passion for detailing, Rob is a leader at Finegold Alexander, managing projects with significant technical complexity that involve large stakeholder groups. He recently finished The Boulevard on the Greenway in Boston, a 12-story post-tensioned concrete structure. This luxury condo high-rise includes an underground, robotic parking system—the first of its kind in New England. Rob’s design expertise covers many project types, ranging from development work, to public schools and libraries.

Rob is known for his thoughtfulness, his personable attitude, and his work ethic, all of which allow him to efficiently engage with a wide variety of clients, contractors, and coworkers. His impact on quality design is felt throughout the firm as he heads Finegold Alexander’s internal Quality Control / Quality Assurance group, reviewing projects for constructability, code and design issues. He is also co-chair of the Production Standards committee.

Newly Promoted Associate at Finegold Alexander:

Özge Diler Himes
Associate | Design Manager

As both an architectural and urban designer, Özge plays a central role in the ongoing design dialogue at Finegold Alexander. She organizes Finegold Alexander’s firm-wide Friday presentations, promoting and provoking the free exchange of design ideas amongst her colleagues. In all endeavors, she is passionate about architectural detail, material, and craftsmanship. Her professional interests include repurposing existing buildings and experimenting with graphic representation techniques.

Özge previously worked in Istanbul, Ankara and Pittsburgh. She is currently an adjunct professor at Boston University, where she has taught both beginner and advanced level architectural studio courses since 2018. She received her Master of Urban Design degree from Carnegie Mellon University where she also taught first-year architecture studios as an adjunct faculty member. Since joining Finegold Alexander Architects in 2016, Özge has proven herself as a thought leader in design and has played a leading role in the design of projects such as 727 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, MA and 260 High Park in Toronto, ON, Canada.
