Exciting project news! Lowell Justice Center has received the National Grid/Eversource Energy Optimization Award at this year’s Green Building Showcase.

A goal in the design of this 265,000 SF courthouse was to maximize energy efficiency. The project was the largest of three pilot studies for DCAMM’s ZNE initiatives and through careful design decisions from building envelope, to orientation and more, the building was designed to use 40% of the energy compared to a typical facility. Notably, the Lowell Justice Center is the first state courthouse in the country to achieve LEED Platinum certification and the building’s EUI is 38.1, as compared to the EnergyStar 2021 national courthouse average EUI of 101.2.
