We're excited to share a construction update on the J.V. Fletcher Library renovation and expansion project underway in Westford, Massachusetts!
The new library will include a three-story addition with upgraded systems, programmatic changes, and access and ADA compliance throughout the new and existing parts of the building. The main entry level will welcome visitors with an open and inviting space, doubling the Children’s area, and the design will provide direct access to an enchanting outdoor storytelling space. On the second floor, the layout will boast expanded areas for adult collections, diverse meeting spaces, and a dedicated tween/teen/young adult section that will foster a flexible and vibrant environment.
Since the end of demolition in our last update, the perimeter foundations walls have been installed for the new addition as well as the footing and baseplates for new columns. In the construction photos below, the CMU work for the elevator and one of the stair shafts is in progress.
