Navigating the challenges of renovations on historic libraries | What's the Scope with Finegold Alexander

Architects Micajah Tucker and Dan Wilder

How would you build around a 100+ -year-old, beloved historic building? This is the question Finegold Alexander has been asking for the decades that the firm has been designing addition and renovation projects for historic public library buildings — which is what we have again at the Jones Library (1928) in Amherst and the JV Fletcher Library (1895) in Westford.

In this third episode of our library design series, Marketing Coordinator Madison Mercado sits down with Architects Micajah Tucker and Dan Wilder to explore how the firm’s design respects the historic buildings and deals with some unforeseen circumstances that have arisen while working on buildings that have undergone multiple renovations before the firm stepped in.
