Finegold Alexander is working closely with the City of Cranston during the construction phase of the newly designed 100,000 SF Gladstone Elementary School, to replace the former 1950’s-era school. With an enrollment of 798 students serving grades K- through 5, the new school consolidates Gladstone and Arlington Elementary Schools into one building.

Watch the video below, captured by Gilbane Construction Company, showcasing the construction progress of the new 100,000 SF Gladstone Elementary School in Cranston, Rhode Island!

The drone footage highlights how the design leverages the 60ft grade change in the site to create a compact 3+ story building that reduces the visual effect of the building height to fit into the surrounding Cranston neighborhood. The design strategically stacked the learning community wings on each floor, creating efficiencies in the structural and mechanical design systems. Durable, low-maintenance masonry makes up a majority of the building envelope, with 25% window-to-wall ratio creating an inspiring, cost-effective design solution for the community of Cranston.

The school is on schedule to be complete this Spring 2026.
