The City of Framingham and Finegold Alexander Principal Tony Hsiao celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Christa McAuliffe Branch Library on May 16!

Surrounded by Framingham residents, supporters of the library, and local politicians, the community celebrated the impact that the library has had on the town and the legacy of Christa McAuliffe herself.

“From the very beginning we drew inspiration from Christa McAuliffe’s remarkable life and what she stood for: curiosity, love of learning, and a strong belief in the future. That challenged us to create something bold and visionary — a library that would not only serve the needs of today but inspire generations to come,” Tony said in his speech at the event.

Finegold Alexander designed the new library branch, completed in 2016, to address the increasing demand for expanded programs in the city. The new, 17,000 SF space more than tripled the scale of the original branch library.

“This was also one of the most rewarding projects I had the privilege of being a part of,” Tony added. Though modest in size, its impact has always felt much larger. I thought of the words of Neil Armstrong: ‘one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’ It was our hope that this library represents one small footprint — but one giant leap for the community.”
