Masconomet Regional Middle and High School Electrification Study
FA Energy collaborated with CMTA to complete a comprehensive feasibility study for the electrification of the HVAC systems at the Masconomet Regional Middle and High School. The goal was to eliminate fossil fuels, improve the building envelope and enhance accessibility for students. The existing building was built in multiple phases between 1958 and 2001. Many of the envelope assemblies are nearing the end of their useful life and contribute to high heat loss and air infiltration.
Through a thermal imagery survey, analysis of original construction details and onsite observations, the FA Energy Team provided a series of envelope Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) to address energy performance and support electrification. Recommendations targeted aging roof assemblies, air gaps in the envelope, and inefficient glazing systems. ECMs were ranked by priority and energy impact to facilitate potential phasing. Architectural scope also included interior upgrades to enable new mechanical equipment.
