Finegold Alexander Architects is happy to share the J.V. Fletcher Library in Westford, Massachusetts is headed to construction this summer! Now with General Contractor Hutter Construction Corporation, the addition and renovation will bring the library to the 21st century.
In 2016, Finegold Alexander completed a Feasibility Study with a design that preserved the historic fabric of the existing library while creating a substantial new addition to address library program goals. The rear three-story addition creates an accessible and inviting new entry while also addressing parking and improving vehicular traffic flow. The expansion doubles the space for children and triples the space for young adults and increases the amount of public meeting spaces. The design meets Westford’s sustainability goal and has a pEUI of 25.67 compared to the national library average of 130.
We’re excited to get started and bring new life to this historic library!
