This podcast is a part of a series called "Building Literacy: Public Library Construction," from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners Construction Team. You can listen to it here: "Designing for Sustainability: An Interview with Finegold Alexander Architects"

Achieving sustainability requires the integration of many moving parts and pieces, and the architect of a project is uniquely positioned to shepherd this process from the beginning of a project through occupancy of the building, because, as Rebecca Berry explains, "[architects] see things holistically, and we work together with all of the different team members to think about all the aspects of the project, from program to scale to the construction timeline to how the construction is administered." Join FA's Ellen Anselone, Rebecca Berry, Beth Pearcy, and Josephine Penta as they talk with Andrea Bunker and Lauren Stara of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners about how architecture firms approach the planning, design, and implementation of energy efficient measures in public building projects.
