Finegold Alexander is excited to share a construction update on our renovation and addition project at Jones Library in Amherst, MA! The Jones Library is a $46.1 million renovation project, with Fontaine Brothers as the General Contractor.
Designed by Putnam & Cox in 1928, Jones Library was originally built to look like a residence, with its robust stone facade and distinctive gambrel roofline. Finegold Alexander’s new design features a comprehensive renovation of the existing historic building. Demolition is currently underway to make room for a new three-story addition to the rear of the historic building. The expanded library that takes its place will meet contemporary needs and address accessibility, security, HVAC systems, and technology upgrades. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
