Central Library opened to the public for the first time in 1927. Seventy-six years later this grand beaux-arts building is no longer equipped to fulfill its mission of meeting the information and enrichment needs of the region. The renovation and expansion project calls for the restoration of this magnificent building and the seamless addition of 180,000 sf. FA+A serves as preservation architects for this work lead by architect Moshe Safdie. |
