The Mohawk Theater opened its doors to the public on November 5, 1938, featuring an art-deco interior with Native American motifs. It is located in downtown North Adams on Main Street. The movie theater closed in 1991 and has remained unoccupied since that time.The City of North Adams has selected FA+A to design extensive interior renovations and restoration to the historic Mohawk Theater. The art deco finishes will be restored and theater’s use will be expanded from a movie house to performance and community space. |
