The $19-million project began in 2008 and took about 15 months to implement the design by Finegold Alexander + Associates that provided greater intimacy for the audience while accommodating a wide range of presentations and performances. The renovation included the replacement of antiquated utility systems, the expansion of the main stage and the addition of an intimate performance space for teaching and small audiences.
“The addition is harmonious with the existing structure but it won’t be disguised as the product of an earlier era. It makes the history of the building visible and ensures that we do justice to our own time,” says Joseph Marra, the college architect and assistant director of facilities for planning and projects.
