Finegold Alexander + Associate Inc receives an award for the renovations and restoration of the Boston Opera House

Finegold Alexander + Associates Inc was recently awarded the  "Award in Excellence in Historic Resources" from The American Institute of Architects, the Washington Chapter, for the historic renovation and preservation of the Boston Opera House.

Finegold Alexander in association with Martinez + Johnson Architecture PC provided renvoation and restorations to The Boston Opera House, formerly the B. F. Keith Memorial Theatre.  The Opera House had not been adequately maintained and, after functioning as a movie house and briefly as home to the Boston Opera Company, it fell into disuse and disrepair.

We were retained by owner Live Nation, Inc to renovate the Opera House as a multi-use theater. Plans for the 2,600 seat house included complete restoration of the elaborate murals, wall fabrics, lighting, plaster work, marble and various metallic and unique painted finishes on the building interior. An expansion of the stage house to accommodate Broadway Shows created an entirely new ‘back of house’. New electrical, mechanical and fire protection systems were installed.
