50 Saint Peter Street New Residence Featured in the Salem Gazette
The original jail building, constructed in 1813, with a major addition by Gridley J. F. Bryant in 1884, has been converted by Finegold Alexander + Associates Inc into 17 two-bedroom, two-bath apartments, along with a restaurant. The units currently being resided in, as apartments, will be converted over to condos in 5 years. At that time the tenants will have the first opportunity to purchase them and apply a portion of their rent towards the price of the unit. The jail keeper’s house, attributed to architect Samuel McIntire, has been converted to three private entry homes and the Carriage House will host single unit and exhibit space.
