Newburyport Public Library is located in a Federalist mansion that once hosted George Washington, the Marquis de Lafayette, and Benedict Arnold. Built in 1771, the building was converted to a library and expanded in 1881. The 19,000 sf library was doubled in size and now offers state-of-the-art space for research, reading, public meetings and a diverse range of collections. |
