This project is being designed to meet the criteria of the Massachusetts LEED Plus program and is currently meeting the standards to achieve SILVER level certification. The Fall River Trial Court will be built on an existing urban site within immediate vicinity of public transportation. Minimal parking is being provided, encouraging the use of alternative transportation, reducing the number of cars on the streets. The overall design for the Fall River Trial Court is aimed at reducing urban heat islands. This will take form in both the built environment and the landscaping. The roof material will have a high albedo or solar reflectance, reducing the building's heat gain and thus its summertime energy demands.
