Following completion of a six dormitory planning study for Harvard Business School, FA+A was commissioned to renovate and convert Mellon Hall, designed by McKim Mead and White in the 1920's, to MBA residences. The extensive renovation captured space within exterior walls and introduced new building systems to meet accessibility and egress requirements. Seventy-two single occupancy rooms with private baths were created. Each floor provides a lounge and kitchen area. The main common room, significantly altered during a prior renovation, has been restored to its original architectural details. |
